June 2022 – If you love them – speak up…

I am fascinated by the story in Luke chapter 15, commonly referred to as the parable of the Prodigal Son.  The sin of the younger son is obvious – everyone knew that he messed up, and eventually he even figured it out.  But those of you who grew up in a family with younger siblings, what was your job?  Didn’t your parents constantly remind you, “Watch out for your younger brother.” or “Watch out for your younger sister.”?  But in the parable, while the younger brother is making bad choices and breaking the Father’s heart, what do we hear from the older brother – the one who should be exhorting the younger son to stay within the set boundaries and show love to the Father?  Not a single word.  The elder son is totally silent. Does he not care about his brother?  Does he not love his brother?

Jesus said that the greatest commandment was to Love the Lord your God with all of your heart and all of your soul and all of your mind and all of your strength, and the second was like it, love your neighbor as yourself.  If we love as God commanded us, we cannot remain silent.

Trinity’s Lutherans for Life group believes in defending the most basic right of every human being – the right to live.  Our group works to protect everyone (including unborn children) from harm and puts God’s love into action by supporting organizations that provide the resources moms need to enable them to more easily choose life for their unborn child.  If you share the same vision, please join us.

If you have questions or would like more information about the group or the topics we address, please contact Samantha Wilcoxson or one of the Pastors.

May 2022 – Did you know?

All human life is valuable and worthy of protection.  God makes it valuable, not anything we have, anything we have done, or how well we are liked or appreciated by others.  God knew us and cared about us before we were even born.  “15 My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in secret, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all my days were written in Your book and ordained for me before one of them came to be.” (Psalm 139: 15,16) Our value is not determined by people or the culture we live in; our value was determined by God, and he loves us and values us so much, he sent his Son to die for us to take away our sins.  Imagine that, God died on the cross for you!  Because you are so valuable to Him.

The Case for Life - Fall Bible Study 2025

Please join us beginning Sunday September 7th (at 10:00 AM) for a study that will equip us to engage our culture with a robust but graciously communicated Case for Life.  This study is designed to 1) help pro-life Christians simplify discussions of abortion and embryonic stem cell research, 2) explain why moral neutrality is impossible, and 3) provide answers to the most common objections including appeals to the hard cases, assertions of bodily autonomy, and many other topics that ignore the real issue.

As Scott Klusendorf states so clearly in his book, The Case for Life, “The abortion controversy is not a debate between those who are pro-choice and those who are anti-choice.  It’s not about privacy. It’s not about trusting women to decide. It’s not about forcing one’s morality. It’s about one question that trumps all others.” Once we understand this, the debate really becomes very simple.

Interested in learning more?  We’d love for you to join us Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM in the “middle school” section of the school.  Whether you hold a pro-life view or not – and especially if you are not sure, or not sure what to say – we would love for you to join us. If you have questions, please contact the Church Office or John Martin.
